Hospitality 5/5 stars! I can't really say anything about the food and the restaurant, but we had the following experience: When we were on the Westweg in September and arrived in Kandern late at night, we were looking for somewhere to stay. After a long, unsuccessful search (during this time everything was overbooked and / or no overnight stays possible at all) we ended up at Hoang's restaurant to have a drink. When we got into conversation with the owners, they offered us to prepare a small room at short notice (something was currently being renovated). So we still had luck and an overnight stay, although it would not be possible to stay overnight in the restaurant.
Mega delicious, as always ... 😋😋😋
Thanks for the rain now i have a good Vietnamese food's place to taste... The staff are really nice, luxury space and beautiful view. I feel so nostalgic just like the day when i was young.
Hoang's restaurant dish is delicious and the service is great, I'll be back next time
Great restaurant food, reasonable price and very good waiter 👍
The range of delicious menus is large, the dishes taste excellent and the service is very friendly and courteous. Highly recommended.
Never again, Vietnam hahaha
We recommend
Excellent food! Great owner.
Go in an emergency
Unfortunately, there is only one vegetarian dish on the menu. These are a few small frozen spring rolls as a starter. Absolutely unsuitable for vegetarians, a shame and a bit weird these days.
Looking for an Asian restaurant, we landed here on Google. Fortunately there is the internet, because without it we would not have found this excellent restaurant. Thanks to monument protection, the hosts are not allowed to put up a large sign on the building. It is the ox in Kandern, diagonally across from the pasta bowl. The decor is a successful mixture of the old ox and Asian influences. You feel very comfortable. The lady of the house is very accommodating and friendly. The kitchen is excellent. Vietnamese specialties, everything freshly prepared with a love for healthy food. Delicious! Glutamate bombs like the "standard Chinese" are in vain here. We will come back for sure. We just hope that awareness increases so that a good restaurant does not fall victim to the corona pandemic.
Super tasty!
We were surprised with the good Vietnamese food in such a small village! Very nice, hot and fresh food and friendly service.. absolutely recommended!
Careful preparation of the dishes. Very nice service. Prices are reasonable. Own parking space available.
Again very tasty! The service was also very friendly!
Delicious eaten. Good prices, good beer and very friendly service. Terrace is nice, inside was closed, but the weather was lovely. Recommended.
If you really want to eat classic Vietnamese food, then this is it! The way to Kandern is definitely worth it. Here the food is prepared with a lot of love and fresh ingredients. The outside seating area is very nice and just cozy in summer. It's really great that this kind of Vietnamese restaurant still exists and not always these typical "all-you-can-eat" restaurants;). First class service!
Absolutely Delicious Food
It was a bit expensive
Enjoy your meal. Funny pricing policy. Partly plate dishes, partly to put together yourself. But totally different price ??? Ambience so-so. Nice personel.
Autentic vietnamese Food. It taste like in Vietnam. Bring a bit Vaccation Spirit back. We ordered summerolle. It contain shrimps and some meat. The dip sauce was with fish sauce garlic and chilli. Original Then we had shrimps in Tempura. They were actually very big when i removed the cover. Then as main dish we both took Pho. My vietnamese GF said that it been the best Pho she ever had in Germany. The herbs come with, it were very fresh. We definetely will go here again. 6 out of 5 stars
Tip top, very good food, nice atmosphere, very nice service - anytime again. Clear recommendation. We would love to come back.
Fantastic place! Great attention and the duck dishes pls the wan tan soup are splendid! Very friendly too and good prices
Beautiful setting
Nice food and friendly staff ! Menu with photos is easy to read.
Generous portion of food. I like their Po. I wish they will serve Po Ga, too.
Very good food with fresh and qualitative ingredients. The meat is very tender and has a delicious taste (not to compare with the cheap meat from other Asian restaurants which is dry and tasteless!) Nevertheless, the portions are very large and leftovers can of course be taken Will definitely come back!
We were here for the first time today and loved it. The food was very good, the portions are really so that you really full. The service was very friendly and attentive. All in all we had a very nice family evening and could celebrate and enjoy the 28th wedding anniversary of my parents in a nice ambience with delicious food. P.S. I can as an appetizer the V7, as a main course the 12 and for dessert the apple rings only recommend ❤✌
Great food, reasonable prices.
Hi, I just went to Hoang's restaurant today for the 6th time within 1,5 month. It was a great pleasure for me and my husband (who is German) to finally find a vietnamese restaurant where we can enjoy the food as good as the ones that I have in Hanoi. While rating the restaurant after 6 times carefully checked and tested through the whole menu, I was surprised today about one of the reviews on the "Bún chả". It seems that there was a misunderstanding. In the menu, it was clearly stated "Bún chả nướng" and not "Bún chả"! As a Vietnamese and precisely originally from the old town of Hanoi, I can truly and honestly say that the dish is very good and as good as the one you can find at the centre of Hanoi. The grilled pork that Jan Clierinck referred to is the "Bún chả" or "Bún chả Hà Nội". The "Chả" served at Hoang's restaurant is a genuine one, which is similar to pan fried western sausage. Though no one asked me to write this testimony down, however, I just think it is important to bring some clarities and to honour the efforts of Hoang's restaurant to respect the Vietnamese identity in their kitchen, their cleanliness and also the freshness of the ingredients!
Initially we were very excited about this newcomer in town. The beef noodle soup and spring rolls served as a lunch special are excellent and only for this I would return. Today I had Bun Cha with fried pork and it was far from standard. The quantity was more than enough (German standard!) but something was not right with the pork. It was like a sliced pork meatloaf where I had expected either a pork patty, well grilled or baked or sliced pork, grilled or pan fried. It had the substance of a meatloaf but no taste. I asked whether this was their standard as I ate it different in Vietnam. She replied it is authentic and offered no replacement in pork or beef. I add pictures of how it looked and how it should look. Again, Europeans or Germans may like their fried pork like this but not me. Again go for their "Pho Bo" and you will be happy! I left my plate untouched (never happened before) and saw to my amazement they deducted 4€ from the bill but cared not to ask whether the food was good or not.
Very good Vietnamese food. Friendly staff
Food was excellent. Customer service leaves much to be desired.
The food tastes really good. I was very surprised because at first I thought it was classic Asian as you know it, but that's not the case. The food also looked very good optically and my eyes ate with 😜. The interior is very nice, they have kept old elements from the ox and refined it with the typical look of the restaurant.
